An exquisite antique 14K yellow gold reverse painted Essex crystal pendant/charm featuring a wire fox terrier with engraving of a date on the back, June 6th 1933.
Essex crystal became popular during the Victorian era (1837-1901) and remained popular until the 1930s and the most distinctive characteristic of Essex crystal jewelry is the technique used to create the designs. Many pendants feature intaglio or reverse-carved images. In intaglio, the design is carved into the back of the crystal, while in reverse carving, the image is carved on the front, giving it a three-dimensional effect and because they are hand carved and hand painted, each piece is unique making Essex Crystal pieces highly collectible.
