A stunning antique Arts and Crafts era ring crafted from 18K Green Gold featuring a cushion shaped cabochon cut opal in a clawed collet setting in the center, surrounded by 4 glittering bezel set old mine cut diamonds. The ring face has a gorgeous design with ivy leaves that border around the opal.
The opal has dreamy play of colour displaying predominantly blue with flashes of violet and green. It reminds me of a Monet waterlilies painting, shimmering and iridescent. Green gold is achieved is created by mixing silver, copper and zinc to yellow gold.
This one-of-a-kind ring a beautiful example of the artisanal aesthetic of the relatively short-lived Arts & Crafts period.
