An Art Deco era 18K White Gold band with intricate filigree work set with a faceted rectangle Aquamarine.
The pierced gallery allows light to pass through and illuminate the aquamarine which glows with a sky blue hue and the geometric engraved design is synonymous with the Art Deco era.
Hallmarked on the inner shank with Makers Mark "Belais" and 18K.
Belais was one of the first manufacturers of white gold and submitted their formula for a patent in 1918 and the name Belais became synonymous with White Gold.
Aquamarine it has been used in jewelry since at least 500 BC and still enchants us today.
I enjoy Pliny the Elder's (23 AD - 79 AD) description of Aquamarines: "The lovely Aquamarine, which seems to have come from some mermaid's treasure house, in the depths of the summer sea, has charms not to be denied".
