A precious 18K Yellow Gold Pearl and Diamond Mourning Ring with a delicate Forget-Me-Not flower at the center of the ring face. The Forget-Me-Not flower is adorned by pearls with a rose cut diamond set in the center. Pearls on each shoulder set in the shape of a leaf and ending with a pearl add to the intricacy in the design of the ring.
It was common in Victorian times for a person to commission mourning jewellery to memorialize their loved ones. Pearls, black enamel and floral motifs are a few examples motifs and materials that were used in mourning jewellery. In this instance the Forget-Me -Not flower was used to symbolise remembrance while the pearls were symbolic of tears.
The inner shank has an inscription that reads 'In memory of my beloved Sister L.C.M. died March 1st 1867 aged 32'. A beautiful gesture of devotion to remind one of someone they cherished.
Back of ring face has a compartment for hairwork.
