A precious antique 15K Yellow Gold Diamond, Ruby and Seed Pearl Insect Brooch in a safety pin style that would make a sweet addition to your jewellery collection.
The fly motif had long symbolised human mortality as well as secrets or secret-keeping.
This little bug must have witnessed it all but you can be sure it won't tell.
An incredible piece with lots of details such as its pearl and diamond chips encrusted wings for texture, and ruby eyes that peek at you, with jointed legs for a realistic look. A principal old cushion cut diamond with a large culet is set in the center with four pearls in graduating sizes set on the abdomen section. Two further pearls are set, one on each end, of the bar pin adding a beautiful detail to the brooch.
The pin and catch are in wonderful working order and fastens securely. The pin is slightly bent at the end to accommodate the pearl when closing.
