An unusual QU'HIER QUE DEMAIN love pendant in 18K solid gold encased in a beautiful sunburst frame that has rope pattern detailing on the wires and outer border, as well as beautiful engine turn details on the inner border and around the medallion. So much texture and details!
The text reads "qu'hier que demain" and translates to "More than yesterday less than tomorrow" from a famous poem by Rosemonde Gerard she penned in 1889 for her husband.
I've not seen one in this style and it is so unique! The medallion has a brushed background with raised text. The plus sign has a diamond set while the minus sign has three baguette-cut synthetic rubies embedded.
The back surface is perfect for engraving initials or a date and is by Alphonse Augis, a French jeweler from Lyon, with A.Augis signature that is legible on the front of pendant.
The first medals were made from 1907, this one is around 1940-60s and it is in very good condition.
